Recently, I was having a conversation with my sister about a clean, lighter foundation that she could wear during the summer. She was thinking a powder, but I reminded her we aren’t as young as we used to be and she should consider a tinted moisturizer. I used to love light-weight powders and was not a fan of any liquid foundations until I started using tinted moisturizers myself. The coverage is so much better than a powder, and it lasts longer too. But the biggest selling point for me is that it doesn’t feel like a liquid foundation {at all!}. These days I practically wear a tinted moisturizer everyday as my foundation because I love it so much, and I love wearing it even more during the summer!
A light-weight foundation is a must-have for the summer, because it’s hot outside and the last thing you want is to feel like you have a thick, heavy foundation on. Tinted Moisturizers provide an extra layer of moisture to help keep your skin hydrated – another key benefit for you! The last crucial thing you need in your foundation is an SPF {especially in the summer}. Now let’s talk about one of my favorite, clean tinted moisturizer foundations from Beautycounter!
Dew Skin Tinted Moisturizer {with SPF 20}
I wore this tinted moisturizer while I was outside working the other day during prime sun exposure hours. Unfortunately, I wasn’t prepared for being outside that long and neglected to bring any sunscreen {not even my clean sunscreen!} with me. Luckily, I had on pants so my arms were the only thing exposed to the sun other than my face. I’m happy to report that my face was more than protected with the tinted moisturizer {and I only applied it once earlier that morning!}, my arms on the other hand got sunburned. Lesson learned, but at the same time it was a great test for the tinted moisturizer – and it passed with flying colors. Zero sunburn on my face, and the dewy glow was fully enact too!
Benefits of the Beautycounter Dew Skin Tinted Moisturizer
It provides a lightweight hydration, a hint of sheer coverage, SPF 20 protection, and a luminous dewy glow. It also includes black currant, peony flower root extract, and vitamin C {to help with those pesky pigmentation spots!} to enhance skin brightness and sodium hyaluronate to promote firmer, smoother-looking skin. Good stuff! And most importantly the ingredients used to make the moisturizer are clean.
How I Apply
After following my AM Skincare routine I add a few pumps of foundation {I use the color N2 – I have light-medium skin tone} to the top of my hand, and then apply the moisturizer on my face using a foundation brush. {Note: I used to use my finger tips, but a foundation brush provides MUCH better coverage!} Once the moisturizer has covered my face I tap a make-up sponge lightly over my face to blend in any streaks {I love this sponge!}. So simple, and you can see the dewy look right away! I also haven’t really felt the need to reapply the foundation later in the day if I need a refresher for the evening. I typically use a loose powder and that seems to do the trick. To remove the tinted moisturizer at night see this post for my PM Skincare routine.
