When I first decided to make the switch to better, cleaner beauty products I focused on the basics, products that would help maintain my skin {you can read more about what I choose here and here}. I think this is the best way to introduce your skin to something new and different, and then build off that. Being the skincare junkie that I am, I also decided to splurge and purchased a few other popular products that targeted a problem area of mine – pigmentation. I’m always looking for ways to help diminish the appearance of these spots, that started showing up in my late twenties thanks to tanning and wacky hormone combinations. Unfortunately, pigmentation is not easy to get rid of {believe me I’ve tried so many things!}. So I was pleasantly surprised when I started to see results with the two better beauty products I bought to target these annoying spots. After only using for a month or two too!
Check out why I decided to make the switch to better beauty products here!
Overnight Resurfacing Peel
Everyone {seriously everyone!} loves this Overnight Resurfacing Peel. I was so excited to try it out, and it did not disappoint. I started using it at the beginning of March religiously three times a week in the evening. In case you are wondering, it is not really a peel. You apply a few pumps to your face and neck and leave it on all night. Then you wake up in the morning looking refreshed, and over time less spotty! It also helps diminish the appearance of pores and fine lines too. Bonus!
What makes it effective?
The Resurfacing Peel is made with glycolic, lactic, and malic acids that help remove the bad skin cells that cause dullness. Then hyaluronic acid and other essential fatty acids help to soothe your skin in turn leaving you with a bright, glowing complexion in the morning. In other words, the combination of the acids used in this peel help to hydrate, replenish and protect your skin from future aggressors. Good stuff, right!?
How I use the Peel:
I wash my face {see my full PM skincare routine here} and then apply a few pumps of the peel onto my face and neck. Don’t forget your neck! It does feel a little tingly once applied, but that only lasts a few minutes. I let the peel absorb into my skin for about 5 minutes, and then apply my PM moisturizer and eye cream. Super simple to use, and the results are amazing!!
No. 1 Brightening Facial Oil
The Brightening Facial Oil was the product I was the most skeptical, yet very intrigued by. An oil on your face? I’ve used a lot of different skincare products over the years, but never oils on my face. But I wanted to splurge on something good to help with my pigmentation, and this product is a best seller and award winner so it had to be good, right!?
What makes it effective?
This product is made up of seven natural oils {including citrus oils, hence the Vitamin C!} It’s lightweight, does not make your face feel oily – it feels smooth actually, has not caused any breakouts {in case you were wondering – I know I was concerned about that!}, and it has a delightful, light citrus smell to it. Plus, Vitamin C helps diminish the appearance of sun damage/pigmentation, so if this is a target area of improvement for you it makes sense to go with this oil.
How I use the Oil:
I apply this oil every morning and alternate using it the evenings when I use the Overnight Resurfacing Peel. I add a few drops {a little goes a long way!} to my face and neck after using my moisturizer and eye cream. Then I let it settle on my face before applying any make-up during my AM routine.
Both of these products have been complete game changers for me! It’s such a good feeling to find products that produce results and are better for me too – especially when it comes to pigmentation. If pigmentation is a skincare concern for you too I’d highly recommend trying both or at least one of these products. Let me know if you have questions, as I’d love to help you achieve your skincare goals! You can also take this short quiz to determine which products are recommended for you. So helpful!
