A few years ago I started making my own Christmas gift tags out of holiday cards. I know this project might seem time consuming considering there are so many cute gift tag options out there to choose from, but I really enjoy adding an extra personal touch to my gifts. Plus, this is how my grandma labelled our Christmas presents growing up and I always loved it, so I’m continuing her tradition proudly and adding my own DIY twist to it!
Supplies
- Christmas Cards {old or new and even mismatched}
- Decorative Embellishments {glitzy things found in the craft store dollar bins}
- Scrapbook Paper
- Scissors
- Ribbon
- Scissors
- Glue Stick
- Hole Punch
Directions
- Use scissors to cut your favorite graphic of the Christmas card out. Some cards may have more than one graphic you can use, or you might be able to use the main graphic to create several different versions of gift tags! {Example: For these cards I cut the Christmas tree into smaller trees and also into a few stripes for a different look.}
- Glue the graphic onto a piece of scrapbook paper.
- Add your glitzy embellishments to the gift tag. {Tip: Purchase embellishments that already have an adhesive on them!}
- Punch a hole into your gift tag and insert a coordinating ribbon to attach {or tape} your gift tag onto the present.
That’s it!
Such an easy way to make your Christmas gifts a little more personal.
I’d also highly recommend making the DIY Christmas gift tags while you watch a Christmas movie on the Hallmark Channel ๐
