Hello!
Super Bowl weekend has held a special place in my heart since the year 2012. For those of you that may not remember, Indianapolis hosted the Super Bowl that year. I didn’t actually go to the game {unfortunately, I’m not made of money…yet :)}, but I spent Super Bowl weekend attending the festivities in Indianapolis.
To date this is definitely one of the coolest experiences I have ever had…and I’m not even a big NFL fan.
So in honor of Super Bowl weekend, I thought it would be fitting to share a little bit of my experience with you…oh and of course I also have a yummy, skinny buffalo chicken dip recipe I’ll share in this post too!
First things first…Super Bowl weekend 2012!
All of the streets in downtown Indianapolis were pretty much shut down and turned into the Super Bowl Village.
There were people EVERYWHERE.
We spent our days walking around downtown taking in all of the free festivities…and rubbing elbows with the stars!
There were a ton of celebrities that came to town for Super Bowl weekend. Sure, they go to the game…but they also hang out and walk around like us normal people!
We saw Josh Elliott, who was on Good Morning America at the time.
And we hung out at Billy Bush and Scott Wolf’s tailgate on Sunday before the game.
If you are wondering why I didn’t get pictures with any of these celebrities you are not alone. Apparently, I was trying to be the cool I-hang-out-with-celebrities-all-the-time type of person.
Which is so not me π
Or maybe it’s because I had already gotten burned by the one celebrity I really, really wanted to get a picture with.
Brace yourselves for the disappointment…this celebrity was Real Housewives of New Jersey star Caroline Manzo.
You see we were all casually hanging out in front of the Giants’ hotel. {Which is just a nice way of saying we were waiting to stalk some celebrities. Kidding. Kind of.} I happened to notice a guy that looked so familiar, but I couldn’t put my finger on how I knew him {this guy was Albie – Caroline’s son}. Then I saw Albert {Caroline’s husband} and all of the sudden the light bulb came on…as well as a little scream of excitement to my group, who seriously thought I just saw some long lost friends. And before I knew it there was Caroline Manzo standing right in front of me!
I’m not quite sure how I was even able to form a sentence, but I told her I was a huge fan and asked to get a quick picture. She stumbled over her words and mumbled something about coming back after she checked in. Really Caroline? In the 30 seconds it took you to tell me “no” we could have taken a quick pic and you would have been on your merry way. Not to mention I was the ONLY ONE in this small crowd that knew who she was. Talk about breaking a girl’s heart.
But here she is…this photo was taken the same day she shot me down.
Live and learn…next time I see the Manzo’s I’ll just ask Albie and Chris for the pic π
Despite that major disappoint I was still able to pull it together and enjoy the rest of my weekend.
We became quick New York Giants fans, which is a good thing because they won!
And these are the motorcycles that escorted the team buses to Lucas Oil Stadium for the game.
We obviously weren’t riding on them when that happened…but these nice cops were kind enough to let us hop on for a quick pic.
The moral of my Super Bowl weekend story is if the Super Bowl ever makes it to a city near you go enjoy it!
Hopefully all of the celebrities you see will be more than happy to get a quick pic with you π
And in case you need a skinny recipe to enjoy during the game on Sunday here is a delicious one Danielle put together:
Enjoy!
Happy Super Bowl weekend!

January 30, 2015 at 11:32 amThanks for the great recipe! Really stinks for celebs snub their fans…who do they think makes them a celeb??? I have no clue who she is, so she’s not a celeb to me π

January 30, 2015 at 11:47 amYou’re welcome! Yes, I was surprised she acted like that because literally no one else around knew who she was. Oh well π
