Of all the rooms and amenities the Purple Palace has the one thing that is probably my absolute favorite is my linen closet. I know I’m weird, but I’ve never had one before. And after having one, I never want to go without one in the future! It is so convenient to have in my bathroom. Everything I need to use on a daily basis sits right inside this spacious closet, and all I need to do is open the door to grab it.
Unfortunately, I have been taking advantage of this great amenity…meaning it has been a cluttered mess for longer than I would like to admit.
See what I mean? Linen closets should not look like this!
As you may remember from my Spring To-Do list I wanted to get it organized. I’ve been putting it off for WAY to long. In case any of you procrastinate about your spring cleaning like I tend to do, I thought I’d break down how I organized my linen closet to give you some inspiration…if nothing else. Are you ready to get inspired!? Here we go!
First things first, I would highly recommend having a Real Housewives episode playing in the background. I don’t know what it is about these ladies, but they motivate me to clean…until I get distracted by their funny comments and reactions, like Tamra is giving Vicki here while talking about her relationship with Brooks. You gotta love Tamra! Anyways, back to the closet…
Next, empty out your linen closet completely. These shelves can get super dirty and dusty. Since you are organizing you have to start with a fresh clean base.
Do I have a lot of stuff or what? Now is as good of a time as any to downsize. Get rid of those 15 hair products that you haven’t used in two years, but hold onto hoping one day you’ll be able to style your hair the same way your hairstylist does. I can tell you based on experience…it’s NOT gonna happen! Get rid of them. Then make sure to dust these items off before you put them back in your clean linen closet.
It helps to organize your linen closet when you have some fun accessories to use! All of these pieces were pretty inexpensive too. Decide which of your remaining items work best where, and put everything you have decided to keep back in the linen closet.
And then it all comes together!
Much better, don’t you think!? Everything has its own place.
Be sure to reward yourself with a special treat when finished, because organizing a linen closet can be quite the task! My treat of choice was a Cadbury Creme Egg…yum!! 🙂
I’m so happy to check this project off my Spring To-Do list! Next up, wash the windows….and buy more chocolate!
How are your spring cleaning projects coming along?
Have a great weekend!
