DIY Cloth Napkins

Good Morning!

Happy Fall!

{In case you have forgotten once Labor Day is over we happily celebrate Fall around here :)}

I have been busy updating the Purple Palace with little touches of Fall décor.

A pumpkin here, some burlap there…you know, all the Fall basics.

This Fall I decided I needed some new napkins for our dining room table.

And guess what!? I couldn’t find what I wanted anywhere…shocker I know as this ALWAYS happens to me.

On to Plan B…make my own!

DIY Envelope Throw Pillow Covers

Good Morning!

About a month ago I saw these super cute throw pillow covers in the H&M home collection…which by the way if you haven’t seen their home collection you have to check it out here! They have AMAZING stuff!

Anyways, back to the throw pillow covers.

Instead of following my mother’s motto of “if you want it get it”, I decided to wait for a coupon I could use on them or for a home collection sale.

So I waited…and waited.

Guess what!? Everyone else must have liked them too, because when I went to buy them they were gone. Just my luck!

On to Plan B…the good ole DIY route.

Happy Wednesday!

Have you ever been out browsing and find something really cool? Something you never knew you were looking for…and then all the sudden you see it and get REALLY excited!?

This happens to me more than I’d like to admit :) And apparently it doesn’t take much for me to get excited either.

While browsing around Goodwill last weekend I found this amazing clam shell…and got a little excited!

DIY Boho Chic Headband

Good Morning!

Summer for me generally means partytime…and you all know I love a good party!  There are festivals, parades, pool parties, barbeques, bonfires and a few too many late nights out. You gotta love it :)

In a few weeks I am going to a Summer Solstice Party…sounds very “Real Housewives-ish” doesn’t it!? To me a Summer Solstice Party also means Boho Chic…and I LOVE Boho Chic!.

When thinking about what I would wear to this party (yes, I think about these things way in advance…I’m a girly girl remember!?) I couldn’t help but envision wearing a Boho Chic Headband. What better time than a Summer Solstice Party to sport this super cute trend?

So… I could go out and buy this Boho Chic Headband…or I could go the DIY route. Guess which option I choose? (more…)

Summer Dining Room

Good Morning!

We made it to June…which means we are halfway through 2014. Crazy. It also means we have made it to Summer…yay! Well, technically Summer doesn’t officially start until June 21st, but who really pays attention to that date anyways!? It’s Summer Time!

Last year I wanted to do something different, and add some fun Summer decor to my dining room table.

It typically looks like this…

Not terrible by any means, but it’s always fun to switch things up a little bit.

DIY Planted Flower Pots

Happy Monday!

Let me start off today’s post with a confession…I don’t do dirt.

Even though I grew up living in the country I’d consider myself more of an indoorsy kinda girl. Mainly because I am deathly afraid of snakes, big bugs and/or any rodents that come out of no where just to scare you.  So, when my mom asked me to help her weed her perennial garden a few years ago this brilliant “I don’t do dirt” comment came out of my mouth. And it sort of stuck…all while continuing to make us laugh about it years later.

You might be wondering how I make my DIY Planted Flower Pots each year since I don’t do dirt…so I thought I’d share that with you today!

DIY Flower Pots

Since it is finally starting to warm-up in Indiana I decided it was time to update my patio furniture, so this past weekend I spent half of my Saturday afternoon spray painting it. My index finger is still a little numb from spraying the paint, but you gotta do what you gotta do! And the furniture turned out great, so the pain is well worth it! My outdoor living space is almost complete, and I’ll be featuring it in an upcoming post.

DIY Flower Pots

In the meantime, while I was going spray paint crazy, I decided I might as well spray paint a few of my clay flower pots…because once you get started you tend to notice other things that would look great with a fresh coat of spray paint! I also purchased some floral fabric to add to the flower pots. My one big project turned into two, but that seems to happen when I get on a roll :)

Here’s how I made the DIY Flower Pots…
