Red, White, and Style

Like many people this time of the year, I’m getting ready to leave for a much needed vacay. Thank goodness I have the help of some fab interns to keep things moving along while I literally run around like a mad woman preparing for my trip. Please help me welcome back Alex!

For me, Fourth of July is my favorite holiday of the year. The combination of sun (fingers crossed Indiana actually has some for a change), fireworks, cookouts, country music, and friends are all what contributes to the perfect day.

While I find the day to be full of excitement, I cringe seeing cookie cutter outfits like American flags being screen printed onto a t-shirt. Why not go explore your wardrobe and have some fun with your outfit! Who knew you can be patriotic and stylish without breaking the bank?!

I pulled out three outfits that I think are perfect for the Fourth while still being on trend. All of the pieces shown below were already in my closet, which let me avoid the headache of going to the mall (hallelujah!) and spending money. I pulled together a casual/easy going, a semi-casual, and fancy-ish (emphasis on the –ish!) outfits to inspire you for this upcoming holiday 🙂

Tomboy Meets Girly Girl

For those of us who want to just put something on real quick without putting too much effort into it, but wants to stray away from the cliché Fourth of July gear, here is a simple outfit.

I paired a shirt I bought a couple years ago with a pair of high-waisted denim shorts and a pair of bright red sneakers.

I pulled my hair into a ponytail, but decided to offset the tomboy-ness of the outfit with a bright red lip to show off my girly side.

Semi-Casual Tom Cruise

There’s something about aviator sunglasses that really makes me feel cool and authoritative, like Tom Cruise in Mission Impossible. (Do I look as cool as I feel? You can be the judge.)

I reused the red sneakers and swapped in a pair of white denim capris and a sleeveless royal blue chiffon button-down for a simple, clean look.

I sophisticated it up with a watch and anyone who knows me will testify that I’m rarely ever seen without one on. What better time to wear my navy faced watch?!

All Dolled Up…Kinda

The final look I put together is a little nicer for those events that you want to add an extra oomph to. However, it’s a fun holiday so it’s nothing too prim and proper.

I found this simple racer back dress from, of all places, Walmart! I’ll be the first to admit Walmart isn’t my first initial place to go looking for a dress, but I walked by and saw it was just $7! What a steal! Perfect dress for you to dress up or down with.

I fancied it up with the help of a denim jacket and a unique cuff bracelet.

I dressed the ensemble down with some Chuck Taylors and add a flare of personality with the help of my Vincent Van Gough “Starry Night” socks (how fun is that?! Best Christmas gift EVER! Thanks mom!).

What type of outfit are you planning on wearing for this year’s Fourth of July holiday?!

So cute! I don’t know about you, but I’m ready to go shopping 🙂
