A Floral Holiday

Did you know that today is national Floral Design Day!? Me either, but what a fun “holiday” to celebrate! I thought this would be a good opportunity to get into the spring spirit.

My mom loves putting together floral arrangements, so I figured this would be a nice and easy project we could do together. We went to Michael’s and picked up a cute vase and some flower stems that screamed spring. Then we trimmed the stems and put the flowers in the vase. It ended up being a smaller project than what I initially envisioned, but sometimes those can be the best ones. Now, I have a beautiful floral arrangement to help me visualize springtime!

Princess Pizza Party

My Winter Favorites

I know everyone is sick of winter, but I can’t lie…I like winter! There I said it, hate me if you must, but it’s the truth. When you live in Indiana you never know what the weather will be like week to week, or even day to day. The past few years we have had somewhat of a mild winter. This year it has been all about the cold and snow…and I’m really loving it! Don’t get me wrong, if it’s still cold and snowy come mid-March I’ll be sick of it like everyone else. But, for now I’m going to enjoy it…what other choice do we really have anyways?

Here are some of the things that help make winter that much better for me 🙂

DIY Bedroom Photo Collage

I have a blank wall in my bedroom facing my bed. My room isn’t huge, so I wanted to add something to the wall that wouldn’t make it look smaller. I came up with this photo collage. I bought the frames on sale at Marshall’s and spray painted them white. (more…)

Home Tour: The Purple Palace

According to the fabulous Lisa Vanderpump (for those of you unfamiliar, she is one of the stars of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills) it is a British tradition to name your house. It adds personality, and let’s just be honest…it’s chic and fun! Our house (condo) had already taken on the name of the “Purple Palace” before I had even heard of this tradition. As you can guess I was thrilled to learn that Lisa Vanderpump and I have something in common!

My sister and I live together. We get along great, and it makes perfect sense for us because we share A LOT of stuff. (more…)

Welcome to The Blue Eyed Dove!

After spending numerous hours blog hopping I finally thought, “I should start a blog of my own.” And here we are! I studied journalism in college, but decided to pursue a career path that steered me away from writing. Plus, as you are probably aware the news can be pretty negative, and that doesn’t really fit my personality. I was always more of what they called a “fluff” writer in the news biz anyways. What better place to write about “fluff” topics than a blog?!

As most new bloggers I’m still learning as I go, and am not really 100% sure about what I will be blogging about. But, I’m up for the challenge and I hope you will follow along with me! I can tell you I have a passion for being creative. My free time is spent brainstorming new ways to express my creativity whether it’s through crafting, shopping, decorating or party planning. This blog will help showcase some of my ideas.

So here we go!

And since it is Valentine’s Day (one of my favorite holidays) it seems fitting to show you a picture of my Valentine’s Day nails. I don’t usually have nail art, but I’m loving my gold hearts! Who doesn’t love hearts?!
